Bestnye dapat jumpe my laling deni pas hampir 3 tahun tak jumpe!! Nampaknye deni akan bermastautin di sweden, bile leh jumpe ko lagi deni?
Anyway I had loads of fun in sweden, deni aku tak sure la..masuk hari ke-3 dia dah soh aku balik dubai-penat katenye! Sikit punye jauuuuuh aku pegi jumpe ko!?
Anyway first day deni bawak aku around stockholm and aku takde la suke sgt city2 ni, tapi stockholm cantek jugak la..pastu aku suke Vassa Museum, tempat derang letak kapal yg besarrr gile tapi tenggelam barely 20 minutes after leaving port on its maiden voyage. Tapi suke sbb sume kayu & besarrr sgt, k nampaknye aku terpesona dgn saiznye..pastu p Skansen, ni the equivalent of Taman Mini Malaysia yg kite ade kot..ala, yg ade rumah tradisional, lagi ade binatang endemic to the country lagi ade folk dance, camtu la..anyway earlier in the day aku ternampak roller coaster dan dgn gatalnye ckp “eeeiiii roller coaster, jommm jommm nak naik”, of course the statement was regretted later but deni was unleashed and terpakse la aku ikut..terketar jugak la kepale lutut memule, but once dah naik the first roller coaster, terus naik turbo shot and a few more adik beradik roller coaster..takut pun ilang ntah ke mane, gedik jek lebih dua-dua same jek! That wrapped up our first day.
Second day was my favorite day! Went to an island. Sweden ni surrounded by archipelago so we went to one of many! Rented bikes and cycled cycled cycled!! Mcm2 la jadik hari ni, aku hampir jatuh masuk belukar when we rounded a curve and it just went sharply downhill after the curve, jadi mane nak nampak kan?! Panik gak la tapi sempat pk, kalau jatuh sure deni gelak tak berenti so managed to stop 2 inches from a bush (well mase tu dah sampai bawah bukit pun ) .went for a swim where i could’nt jump from the pathetic platform, x tinggi mane pun tapi phobia lak..(camne nak bungy or skydive camni weih?) anyway suke sgt sbb nampak country homes, and takde keter, and so green & windy & nampak the sea from peeks in the trees & stopped by a sceptical looking roadside restaurant to discover they have the best fish & chips ever ..sampai ade ‘orang tu’ order lagi satu! This was my feveret day coz dah lame teringin nak be surrounded by nature & greenery & fresh air and less people, all of which was fulfilled this day!
3rd day hari deni melantak. Went to a friend of Deni’s house for a mini malaysian reunion. Byk mende nampak menarik tapi dgn sedihnye daging sume aku takleh makan la tapi aku makan byk noodles & pie & cake & buah, k cam byk la plak aku makan. Anyway lepak the whole day, save the quick stop at the castle b4 the melantak session. Later in the day went to the beach near the house..
Last day we just went to a mall, checked out concept stores & jalan cam org takde hala tuju and that was about it..overall, i loved it! One of my best trips ever. Thanks laling muah muah ..nnt mai Dubai eh..let me show you disneyland in the desert ok?

swapped my Columbo flight for Entebbe instead and was I glad I did!
the hotel is actually a resort on the banks of Lake Victoria, which is one the African Great Lakes.
the day we arrived went for a quick horse-back ride to the lake-front but that was about it.
the highlight of my trip actually came the next day
One the passengers in first class had kindly offered his driver and FWD at our disposal the next day.
He's from Uganda and he's really one the humblest, warmest person I've met.
His driver & Bart, his representative arrived at 7am the next day.
The mission: to take us to the source of the Nile River.(tatau pun river Nile start kat sini sbnrnye)
So we drove two hours to see it. I did'nt know that the Nile actually gets its water from various sources but the two main ones are the White & Blue Nile that converge near Khartoum, Sudan before continuing its journey towards Egypt. This is one of the few rivers whose water flows from South to North. It takes 3 months for the water to reach Egypt from here, cool kan...
anyway there used to be a Fall when the source leaves Lake Victoria to become the Nile river but this collapsed when they built a dam. so now no more falls, just some big old metal as it leaves Lake Victoria (which I forgot to take pics of and I'm sure my poor desription will help no one in imagining it)
Later we went to a smaller falls nearby where some guys were slaloming through the rapid falls, which looked like a lot of fun but i'll just stay where the earth is packed firm beneath my feet & watch!
Also went to see Mahatma Gandhi's stone. Rupe2nye he requested his ashes to be scattered from the major rivers, one of them, of course is the eternal Nile...
that's all for this trip!

Jordan, Petra & Dead Sea (28 May 2009 - 1 June 2009)
|
|
I’ve had this on my wish list for sooo long so when I had 5 days off in May, I decided to cross this off my list. Took a flight to Amman and headed straight to Wadi Mousa, where Petra is. Petra was built by the Nabateans hundreds of years ago, probably made famous by one of the earlier Indiana Jones movie; shot at the Treasury building. Ingatkan satu building je but it’s actually a whole city. Yela, kate kingdom kan. The first day I came i learned that there will be Petra by Night so aku pun pegi la. It was magical, the path was lit by candles in paper bags and it’s something like 2 km from the entrance of Petra to the Treasury. Sampai je Treasury they played some traditional musical instrument and then we hang about for a while then walked back. Actually I could’nt see much as it was quite dark but with a crescent moon in the sky and a gentle breeze blowing, it was worth it!
Next day I went as early as 6 am to Petra and started walking up..tak ingat la..835 or 635 steps up to the Monastery. Came down and jalan2 around Petra, ada tombs, streets, monuments and macam2. But it was really hot so I went back to the hotel by 4 pm. Next day I went back to Petra and climbed to the High Place of Sacrifice. Cantik sgt view and when i got there i had the place all to myself for a good 20 minutes before a group of tourist came. Peaceful sgt masa ni. I made my way down and walked a bit more.
Then it was time to leave Petra Took a bus back to Amman and another bus to Madaba, to visit the Dead Sea. Arrived in Madaba in the evening. Next day i booked a car to the Dead Sea, stopping at Mount Nebo where apparently God told Nabi Musa ‘there is the promised land’ before Nabi Musa collapsed and died. Sbb dari Mt Nebo ni one could see Dead Sea, Israel etc. Aku tatau la dlm Quran same ke tak but this is what I was told. Next we stopped at Bethany Beyond the Jordan where Christians believe Christ was baptised by Jhon the Baptist. Oh ye the Jordan tu River Jordan.
Next is another highlight of my trip, Dead Sea Memang takleh swim, cam floating jek la. From where I was standing it was the East Bank of river Jordan. The opposite side is the West Bank, Israel territory. Sejam gak la aku berendam tapi sakit sangat bile air dia masuk mata or hidung or mulut or kulit kering. Then it was the end of my trip, kejap tapi puas sangat! Anty Norly cakap dulu kat Dead Sea ada town, tapi kaum dia mungkar jadik Tuhan terbalikkan the whole place and it became the Dead Sea. Btw, Dead Sea is the lowest point on earth so the water evaporates and that makes the water very, very, very salty (trust me, walaupun takleh tenggelam aku boleh tertelan air).
Jordanians really surprised me. They’re so friendly, helpful & genuine. One of the safest places to go and considering the turmoil in neighboring countries, my respect just grew for them for having preserved the good qualities they possess. Their neighbors include Syria, Iraq & Israel.
So that’s the story of my quick getaway from Dubai’s summer!

The weather was on our side, sunny & windy..
I can't say Muscovites are the friendliest of people, byk muke masam, pastu bile kite tak ckp russian and try to get the msg across with body language they tend to start shouting hehe maybe that's the way they talk?
No english whatsoever but we were lucky to have this girl
who has been there before so she guided us to Red Square...best woo
i wanted to see Lenin's embalmed body but by the time we came back it was closed..next time then..
The famous cathedral looks more like a castle Walt Disney would make but it was very very beautiful..

Mak & Haykal in Dubai (5-11 November 2008)
|
|
Haykal came along this time. Yeay!
Took them to the same old, same old. Let’s see, first sent them for a desert safari. Sebenarnye desert yg derang bawak takde la gempak sgt tapi I would recommend this for anyone who has’nt experienced the desert. Plus the 4WD ride through the desert is a bit like being on a rollecoaster. Kagum dgn kebolehan adikku menangkap gamba belly-dancing.
Then went to Hatta Safari. I’ve always wanted to go to the Hatta mountains. Basically rock mountains about 1.5 hours from Dubai (bordering Oman). And there’s also this Hatta Rock Pools that I’ve seen a lot on the TV commercial here. Honestly I was a bit dissapointed. I’m starting to think desert countries like UAE have some of the toughest terrain & landscape to survive. Anyway back to Hatta, the moutains are barren and killer-hot in the afternoon. The rock pool was surprisingly small and air dia cam oily. Some people camp out here and u find things from beer bottle and charcoal thrown inside. The water comes from inside the earth and there’s not enough to overflow so it’s stagnant water. But it does look pretty. There’s also the small, non-descript town of Hatta nearby. For AED 280 (RM 270) with a dissapointing lunch at the 4-star Hatta Fort hotel, I personally think it’s not worth it
p/s: en route hatta we stopped by the high way to try some dune buggying, best woo!!
Went for Big Bus Tour..again. Some ppl might view Big Buses anywhere a bit corny but i like it. It gives you a good bearing, some history, some cool facts and stuff. Kepada yg dah muak tgk gambo Big Bus aku sila abaikan, however there’s something special with this one. They have included the exclusive Atlantis Hotel on ‘The Palm’ as one of the stops. The rest of The Palm is still under construction, but we did see completed apartments and villas. Attached to Atlantis Hotel is AquaVenture, a brand new water-theme park charging AED 285 per person. They have this ride called Ziggurat, something like a toboggan. Best part: when u reach the bottom u go thru this tunnel with shark-infested water on both sides. They also have a dolphin bay AED 385 for viewing and AED 845 if you want to interact with them. Mewahnye Dubai ni. Entertainment & Leisure pun cam catered for people with money je. Everything is over the top, causing prices to be high and limiting the number of people who could actually enjoy it. Read: kesimpulannye terkubur harapan me & haykal nak naik Ziggurat ececece mcm la berani to begin with. Sbb tak mampu senang la nak ckp kan!
Tu aje la for entry ni...next one jeng jeng jeng..pictures of Egypt!

Visit to Kuwait (23-25 Oct 2008)
|
|
Went to visit Rose & family in Kuwait
baby Rose sangat comel & kuat gelak..sebbaik ade rezeki melawat Rose, kalau tak tatau la bile leh tengok baby Ali live in action!
rasenye Kuwait cam Dubai sket2, panas (tapi sekarang weather makin sejuk rose kan?), berdebu, byk mall..tapi Dubai has more glitz & glamor in terms of building, entertainment and stuff.
tapi duit Kuwait Dinar (KD) kuat woo..i think one of the highest valued currency in the world. roughly 1KD = 13 AED which is around RM 13 gak.
p/s: rose masak sedap nyummmy i like very much!

Birmingham, UK - 17 Oct 2008
|
|
Dah a few times been to birmingham, with the creaking, haunted hotel uhuhuhu
But recently they changed the hotel, from the quiet town of Solihull which is near the airport we're now staying right in Birmingham town!
So i took the long-awaited oppurtunity to visit Stratford-upon-Avon, famous for being Shakepeare birthplace.
Biasenye aku selaku seorang anti-sosial suke keluar sorang, sume ikut kepala sendiri..tapi ade sorang minah dari South Africa nak ikut lak time ni so I agreed..tapi lupe nak amik gambo dia..she used to study drama and told me Shakespeare meant Juliet's death in the ever so femes Romeo & Juliet to be comical before people (tatau sape) dramatized it and made it sad..quite interesting..
p/s: check out the last picture.. a bull made entirely of jelly beans found in a mall..going for 20,000 UK Pounds, any interested buyer?

Newcastle,UK - 25th Sept 2008
|
|
procrastination oh procrastination..kan dah backlog bebanyak, lagi malas!
anyway these are some pictures of new destinations that i've been lucky enough to sample..
the first one is Newcastle which I personally think had a nice feel to it..cam best jek klu dok sini, camtu la rase dia
tapi mase tu tengah puase..so just had a quick walk around town then ordered nyummy Fish & Chips from room service. kat UK ni derang salu kasik minted mashed green peas together with it..this one was absolutely mind-blowing (ke sebab aku dah kebulur tak tau la kan)
p/s: the last picture is actually my room service meal in houston. sadly i got really sick so just spent my time in the hotel room for 2 whole days. tapi houston cam takde mende sgt, plus the season for baseball & basketball baru abis time tuh..eh melalut lak, the meal is swordfish with spaghetti & asparagus nyumsies gile ok!
