I dedicate this song to me and to anyone who needs it..
i just discovered this song & i love it! the lyrics are uplifting yet the melody is bitter-sweet..

Nat King Cole - Smile

Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it's breaking
When there are clouds in the sky, you'll get by
If you smile through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You'll see the sun come shining through for you

Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
Thats the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what's the use of crying?
You'll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile

This lovely girl just got married

We went to the same school, same uni, ended up in the same department before I left and now she too has left to embark on a new journey..

I was so sad i could'nt make it for her KL wedding but somehow managed to attend the Korean one, lucky me ..the food was nyumsies, people were sweet & welcoming although communication was minimal

Pin looked absolutely gorgeous in her trailing white dress, and so happy and seemed more matured too! hopefully i'll get some brisbane flights soon, so i can visit this wonderful girl and her hubby!

Congrats Pin & Woony, may you have a blessed wedding
And thanks for being so warm & welcoming, I had such an enjoyable time at your wedding..

p/s: someone congratulated me in the lift of the hotel, seeing I was holding the bride's flower bouquet(yes people, i caught the flowers). I was tempted to say "thank you!" hehe tapi taknak la keji + perasan sgt kan so i said "unfortunately, it was'nt my wedding"

so skang pin ngan hubby dia kat australia dah ker ? Mon 15-Sep-2008 20:18

Toronto, Canada 14-17 July 2008

my 1st glimpse of Niagara Falls
from Sheraton Hotel view.

View all 58 photos...
meh citer sket pasal Niagara Falls eh..

Niagara Falls ni about an hour and a half drive from Toronto, which is in the province of Ontario in Canada. Across from the Canadian side is actually Buffalo, New York. so kire sharing is caring la antara 2 negara ni..(but they say u get a better view from the Canadian side)

i was completely blown away by the sheer size of it. Selama ni ingatkan biase2 je, ala air terjun ape heran aku kan..but when u see this wide, thick carpet of water just falling and falling endlessly, fuh took my breath away..like i could just stand there forever!

If I remember correctly, guide tu ckp it was created during the melting of the Ice Age which also created the North American Great Lakes, comprising of Lake Superior, Michigan, Huron, Erie and Ontario. The first 3 lakes overflowed into Lake Erie and when Lake Erie filled up, well...it 'Niagara Falls' into Lake Ontario..

due to the waters' force & magnitude, the rocks were being eroded at something like a foot a year or something and scientists (or sape ntah) predicted the Falls would no longer exist in 500 years, so they built 'weirs', something like a dam with doors that can be opened/closed. This is used to divert the water so it does'nt keep going the same way and so they're able to reduce the erosion rate. so now the Falls will survive longer

i love it....

Izah..wah...cantik n besar gila ek waterfall ni??...power power power.... Sat 9-Aug-2008 14:51

Sydney, Australia - early July 2008

me and tomas

View all 7 photos...
Wat Bangkok - Sydney flight just after Turkey so was still a bit tired. Just went whale watching off the coast in Sydney. These enormous whales (ade beberape jenis) were heading to the warmer northern region to give birth and they'll migrate south again when the weather changes. We were told these 8-tonne mammals can launch themselves completely out of the water when they're playful. Were they playful when I was watching? Of course not..i saw glimpses of them, that would have to do. And they were MASSIVE!! I just hope they make it safely to wherever they're headed..cam jauh je 6000 km to swim kan?

I thought the American singer James Morrison was performing at the Sydney Opera House. Dengan sexcitednye (Yuhana yg ajar perkataan ni ) I half ran, half walked to make it on time. Sampai je the lady said 'He's a 40-something trumpet player from Australia" Tipah tertipu ke bang? Dem. So what did smart me do? Masuk je la sbb dah penat aku lari dari hotel kan, dah gemuk ni mengah tau!..sat halfway thru the show (inside Sydney Opera house cun woo) then left cause me no fan of jazz music by a balding man..he was good & humorous, just not my taste..i suke James Morrison-Undiscovered thanks to Lin & sis Ina for introducing him!

senyap blk bdk nie...
izah bestnye nengok whale...itching nk travel lg nie tp tm nie kemut sgt mane nk cukup duit...cant wait to see u beb...

Turkey Trip 18 June - 1 July 08'

having waffle..
as we wander @ Bosphorus bridge
then stuffed potato
View all 122 photos...
before i even begin telling our wonderful adventure, please accept my apology for any inaccuracy in facts or information as i'm writing from memory of what i heard, read and the occasional 'Google' as i am trying hard not to mislead anyone...so the story begins...

because we were traveling on stand-by tickets (one of the perks of being in the airline industry hey?) our baggage did'nt make it in time for cargo spent the first evening in Istanbul (formerly Constantinople) visiting the Bosphorus bridge which connects two continents; Europe & Asia - a small part of Turkey lies in Europe while the larger portion lies in Asia, this part is also known as Asia Minor or Anatolya.

Alhamdulillah the luggage arrived the next day, after we visited Aga Sophia (pronounced Aya Sofia), a 6th century basilica before being transformed into a mosque during the Ottomans' era. Inside we saw mosaics depicting Christianity, plastered & painted over with Islamic designs. To me Aya Sophia is amazing, the dome was huge and yet it is able to support itself, also love the fact that it's bare & dark inside. Topkapi Palace used to be the residential palace for the Ottoman sultans before being converted into a museum when the Ottoman empire came to an end. Byk mende menarik dalam palace/museum ni including Nabi Muhammad's tooth (after perang Badar), janggut Nabi (obtained after one of his umrah ke haji trip, lupe la), tongkat Nabi Musa & so much more..ok i don't know how real these things are tapi klu dlm museum i'm assuming they're the real deal? Great that they have all these things altho the tooth & janggut kecik sgt sampai tak nampak..uhuk uhuk

We took the overnite sleeper train to Ankara (Turkey's capital) and switched to a bus going to Nevsehir, a town located in the Cappadocia region (pronounced Kapadokya)..a place i really really wanted to see..this region showcases some extraordinary rock formations. OK time for me to start goreng: 10 million years ago 3 volcanoes were spitting lava and ape ntah lagi, about 2 million years ago this volcanic activity stopped, resulting in the region being covered with toofa, a pliable type of rock/earth. Over the years rain & wind caused them to erode and take interesting shapes, the view: santek beyond my miserable describing ability - i hope the pics give a fair idea altho when i look at them i felt so sad cause i felt it was'nt anywhere near how i saw and experienced it..
Here we also visited Derinkuyu, one of many underground cities in this region..this one is 14 storeys deep, altho only the first 8 storeys is opened to public... these cities were a refuge for early Christians fleeing Roman persecution. Again, because the rock/earth were soft, these people dug into it. when they say city, they mean it..complete with a church, kitchen, kandang for binatang, winery, monastery and temporary graveyard. Anyway, byk sgt cerita pasal Kapadokya so b4 meleret2 citer mak nenek sume kuar i'll stop now..but i have to say i was happiest during our stay here
p/s: kitorg naik hot-air balloon to have a bird's eye view of the region, altho slightly pricey it was worth every single cent!!

Next stop: Konya (former capital of the Seljuk Sultanate)
Reason: to visit Mevlana Celaluddin Rumi's tomb, the 13th century poet & theologist. Rumi was born in Balkh, Persia (now part of Afghanistan). After Rumi's death, his son and followers created the Sufi order, characterized by the Whirling Dervish/Sufi dance, also known as the Sema ceremony. This dance is their way of connecting to God. When twirling one hand is always slightly higher than the other, meaning to accept from God, to give to others, to keep none. Sadly there was no Sema ceremony when we were in Konya, but lucky we managed to see one in Istanbul  me so happy.
I'd just like to quickly share the 7 Advice of Rumi with u lovely people ok?
1. In generosity & helping others be like the river,
2. In compassion & grace be like the sun,
3. In concealing other's fault be like the night,
4. In anger & fury be like the dead,
5. In modesty & humility be like the earth,
6. In tolerance be like the sea
7. Either exist as you are or be as you look (i’m baffled by this one, no idea what it means)

So we left Konya & headed for Pammukkale, another place really wanted to go. I was to be confronted with a sad story. Let me start by explaining what it is without messing it up too much. Pammukale means ‘cotton castle’, it’s a series of cascading natural water rich in calcium, chalk and a few other chemicals which rise from hot springs underground due to tectonic movements. As a result it creates travertines, small white pools cascading & overflowing with the hot spring water. All natural. Sadly, poorly managed tourism caused the place to be polluted and most of the pools became dirty or dried up. After it was declared a World Heritage Site in the late 80’s, steps were taken to fix it but what we saw was different from the wonderful pictures I saw a few years ago. Apparently the old pictures are still being circulated. There’s still a little bit of it and they were remarkable. Terbayang2 how it must be dulu, mesti cam dlm fairy-tale. I hope they’re able to fix it one day so others can see Pammukale’s true beauty. There’s also Hieropolis, an old Greek city at the top of Pammukhale so we had a walk in the ruins.

Last was Ephesus or Selcuk, tatau la zaman ape..it seemed to have existed for a long time. Greek, Roman, Byzantine, history aku dah la berterabur so abaikan je la. Anyway it is amazingly preserved. Like you can imagine how the city must’ve been when it was in use cause the roads, latrines, even library were still standing & recognizable. Takdela batu-bata je bertimbun sampai kite pun terpikir ‘ni pemende ni?’

Well actually Bursa was the last town we stopped over but at this time we were both tired and can’t be bothered anymore haha. So we headed for Istanbul to rest, shop and the last thing I had to see...the Sema ceremony. Loved it, enjoyed it! Must see for anyone who’s visiting Istanbul. If u can’t make it to all the other brilliant places we were so lucky to have visited, at least go see the Sema

When we decided on Turkey I had little info about the country. I was surprised to learn that it is extremely rich in history and blessed with natural geographical wonders. People were modern, kind and embracing although there were a few really irritating tourist scams to look out for. Food was heavenly, maklum la boleh bedal je sbb sumenya halal, happy la org yg kuat makan!

sayangnye pammukkale tu.. Sat 19-Jul-2008 03:30

i still think Frankfurt is a little bit boring, but nevertheless i ventured out..
went to Palmengarten, a huge garden and went for a really long walk as the weather is unbelievably pleasant in europe now..
then went to Goethe Museum/Home, Johann Wolfgang Goethe was a popular German poet in the 18th or 19th century, lupe dah..best tgk style umah org dolu2, dapur pakai arang, seterika takde, pakai cam linen presser yg gabak gilos..hehe cam terseronok lak kat sini
then made my way to Alte Oper or Opera Hall, another old building which has been repaired to regain its former glory
headed to the central shopping area but by this time it was too hot sampai pening2 lalat dibuatnye jadi balik je la hotel...

isk..meleleh air liur aku tgk europe building nih...attractive sgt... aku mmg suke gile ngan design bangunan2 lama nih... Tue 10-Jun-2008 10:39
